Living in a desert which attracts many visitors every year we have become desert guides, and with 15 years experience, understanding the guests’ needs and wants, we feel that we can offer more than just guiding. The Caravans Camp idea came to mind after a strong belief that we could provide guests with a great camping experience so we founded the camp and put our guests at the center of our new business. We made it happen and we believe it is a great success. The positive feedback that we get from our guests who visit the camp pushes us forwards and makes us very happy.
We hark back to the time of the great desert caravans; we combine the experience with the atmosphere. Be close as you wish to Mother Earth...either walking, hiking or camping. To give you a combination of comfort and the desert experience we can provide everything you need at the Caravans Camp.
Wadi Rum
Caravans Camp Located in The beautiful Wadi Rum, its a mere 720 square km desert valley located in the southern part of Jordan. Once submerged under the Red Sea, it is now home to the native Bedouin people and is a favourite spot for foreign travellers looking to explore the vast desert wilderness. Wadi Rum was also the set of the classic film, Lawrence of Arabia the story of T.E. Lawrence, a British officer during WWI.
Wadi Rum is surrounded by some spectacular mountains of sandstone and granite, which cater to all kinds of adventurous activities if you decide to take a trip there. Although the Bedouin were traditionally a nomadic tribe, today most have built homes and adopted a more stationary lifestyle – with many living off the revenue generated by local tourism.
